Inspiration for the weekend ahead

TGI Friday! If you’re stuck for ideas on what to do this weekend, here are some of the things we’ll be getting up to help you devise your own plan:

Early morning city walk – this is one of our favourite weekly walks from Grafton, along K’RD, Ponsonby Rd down in to Westhaven, through the city and back home through Parnell and The Domain. It’s always cool to see what’s going and the people – and dog! – watching is always great.

Parnell Farmers Market – a traditional farmers market designed for the locals, the fresh produce here is great. We buy most of our weekly shop here including a wide array of seasonal fresh vege, fish and seafood, milk, eggs and artisan breads. Located in the rear carpark of the Jubilee Building just off Broadway and next to the Blind Foundation.

Devonport – after lunch, we’re taking the short ferry journey to the other side of the harbour from the city, to attend the opening of emerging local artist, Tina Frantzen’s new exhibition at Depot Artspace. This is just one of many galleries in Devonport that are well worth a visit. Afterwards, we’ll probably enjoy a drink in the village before heading back to the city.

Dinner on Ponsonby Road – so many places to choose from, it’s always a tough decision! Excellent options for Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, Japanese and fusion. Google ‘ponsonby rd restaurants‘ for ideas if you like to plan ahead. Otherwise, just go for a walk and see what takes your fancy!

Instant Broadway, Covert Theatre – improv theatre at it’s best! The talented cast will make an entire musical up on the spot at the direction of the audience. Tickets cost just $21.50 each. Buy online.

Pump Class at Les Mills – the 8am Sunday morning virtual class at Les Mills Newmarket is a great way to get yourself sorted for the day ahead! Non-members can buy a casual day pass for $25 and make use of the facilities, including instructed and virtual classes and the well-equipped mixed gym. If you’ve never experienced a Less Mills Fitness Class, it’s a must do just to see why people become fans for life.

Discover Auckland Domain – we’re running our first guided walk of Auckland Domain this Sunday. A sold out small group event! We’ll be running another similar event soon, so do sign up for our club programme if you’d like to come next time. We guarantee you’ll find new things you never knew existed in this beautiful park! As well as meet some new people.

Have a great weekend!
